The Today in New Jersey History Calendar was created by Dr. Marc Mappen, then associate dean of University College at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, in 1997 as a year-long project on the New Jersey History ListServ (http://email.rutgers.edu/archives/nj_history.html).

We would like to thank Dr. Mappen, who is now executive director of the New Jersey Historical Commission, for donating his work to the Public Policy Center of New Jersey to be placed permanently on the web.

The development of the web-based calendar was made possible by a generous grant from the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, a state partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
